Ā Ā TikTok, X, and Instagram are doing THE MOST this week.Ā
Ā New features. New tests. New talks of updates. New everything. Ā It seems like 2024 will be the year of major changes and updates to social media and we're here for the ride!Ā Ā Let's dive in. |
TikTok has steadily been working up to it and now, it looks like the test is officially in the wild: 30 minute videos are coming to TikTok! Ā We all know that TikTok has been wanting to be the next YouTube. Now, after every single social media platform has copied TikTok and its short-form videos, itās time for TikTok to go after its biggest competitorāYouTube. Ā
YouTube remains the number one social media platform for video content and with TikTok starting to dip its toes into long-form video, YouTube should start getting worried. Ā But how many people will actually watch a 30-minute video on TikTok? Is that actually something people want on a platform they are so used to watching short-form videos on? Ā At the moment, this is only a test but one that will be very interesting to see the results from. š |

The days of you needing to create a whole new Instagram account to spy on people are gone! Instagram seems to embracing finsta accounts. Ā
Last week, Instagramās latest feature āFlipsideā was taking the app by storm. The new feature is apparently to create a more personal and candid profile for your close friends that is separate from your public profile. Ā So all those celebrities and content creators (or those of us who want to spy on our exes) that
need a more private place where they can be a bit more ā¦ themselves, you can now create a Flipside. Ā With Flipside, the only people that can see your posts or Stories are those who follow you or that you have added to your Flipside.
The feature is still being tested outāand Mosseri has stated that it might not even stick around. |
Well, look who is back from the dead and trying to get people to stick around. Ā
Itās BeReal and itās now releasing two new features called RealPeople and RealBrands. Ā AKA: It realized it wasnāt making any kind of revenue and has decided to be like every other social media platform out there. Ā Last year, BeReal experimented with RealPeople (celebrity accounts) and, according to the company, users loved seeing their favorite celebs have unfiltered moments, so it is making the feature permanent. Ā
However, wouldnāt that just mean letting celebrities have normal accounts? Apparently, not. Ā How this new feature will look is still a mystery as the RealPeople and RealBrands will be rolled out on February 6. Will this bring people back to the app? Weāre doubtful. |
